Two things we all love here on this site are Game of Thrones and college football. We figured, why not combine the two?

The Big 12 is much like the world of Game of Thrones. There are politics, battles and great leaders competing for the right to sit on the throne every year. So which program would represent which house? With the Season Eight premiere right around the corner we decided to have a little fun and dive deeper into the question.

House Lannister: Texas

While the Targaryans have led with military might, the Lannisters are the financial power in the Seven Kingdoms. That should sound familiar to the Longhorns, who make it abundently clear who holds the wealth in the Big 12 conference.

Texas has more gold than you and they are not afraid to let you know about it, even if it means coming off as the bad guy in the situation (see the Longhorn Network fiasco as an example). As far as the on-field product goes, they may have been down in recent years, but they are making a list and planning on paying their debts in the near future under Tom Herman.

House Stark: Kansas State

While most of the conference has moved on to the Air Raid, the Wildcats do things a little different on the northern side of the kingdom. The Starks still worship the Old Gods and Kansas State still uses a version of the spread option.

The rest of the Big 12 might get things done with flashy offense and lots of scoring, but Kansas State uses a combination of solid defense, special teams and ball control to make things difficult on everyone they play. The North remembers.
