Kyler Murray’s dad is going to be a problem

This one really seems like grasping at straws. Kevin Murray has been active in his son’s athletic career for good reason. He was a talented quarterback in his own right and has gone on to become one of the Dallas area’s best private quarterback coaches. Does any of this mean Kevin is going to be the type of overbearing dad that creates problems for an NFL franchise?

Well the best people to ask about that would be his coaches. The two guys who have coached Kyler Murray at Oklahoma have both weighed in on the issue.

First Lincoln Riley chimed in.

While it’s not that unusual for Riley to weigh on on subjects like this, getting former head coach Bob Stoops to break his Twitter hiatus is a much more accomplished feat. He sent his first tweet in several months and only his third since retiring from coaching (he didn’t tweet about his return to coach in the XFL, to put it in perspective).

These are guys who have reputations with putting talent in the NFL and they aren’t likely to stick their necks out publicly for anyone who isn’t going to uphold their word.

When will it all end?

Unfortunately for Kyler Murray, there will probably be new hot takes between now and the April NFL draft. We’ll hear new ridiculous reasons why teams shouldn’t take him with a high pick. Maybe he’ll get a parking ticket (character issue) or someone will take a picture of him picking his nose (clear locker room hygiene concern).

The best we can all hope for is another player to take the spotlight for part of this time. Surely between now and the draft another big-time prospect will make news and the hot takes and those who live and die by them will float on down to their next target.
