Lincoln Riley can afford to be picky

An OU quarterback has been a Heisman finalist every year Lincoln Riley has been in Norman. The Sooners have made college football history, producing the first two quarterbacks to ever win the Heisman in back-to-back years. Speaking of history, the Oklahoma football program also has the most Davey O’Brien Award Winners in NCAA history as Kyler Murray recently added that trophy to his overflowing list of accomplishments.

This means Lincoln Riley can afford to take his time and make the correct choice at the position, vetting all potential candidates and picking the one that best fits what he wants his offense to look like going forward.

Is OU still waiting on Bryce Young?

Oklahoma really seems to like Bryce Young, the current USC Trojan commit and No. 1 dual-threat quarterback in the 2020 class according to Rivals. Young chose the Trojans over Oklahoma and Alabama, both of which seemed to be finalists according to all reports.

With all the recent turmoil at USC, it could be very possible there is a new coach at the program before the end of next season. This could throw Young’s commitment up in the air and bring him to Oklahoma. Is Lincoln Riley holding out for this possibility?
