Pick No. 6 New York Giants

Why it could happen? The Giants are almost certainly going to draft a quarterback this year. With Eli Manning showing his age and an impatient fan base upset with the franchise’s recent struggles, the time has come for a new quarterback in New York. A backfield with both Kyler Murray and Saquon Barkley could instantly make the Giants must-see TV. Sooner fans could revel in watching Murray throw passes to former Oklahoma receiver Sterling Shepard and the NFC East could continue to populate itself with guys who played their college ball in Norman.

The case against it: Some media outlets are reporting that Giants’ team sources aren’t interested in Murray, who they reportedly say “is a little too small”. The Giants haven’t had a quarterback under six feet tall since 1966 and while Murray seems destined to break several league stereotypes, this franchise might lack the vision to pull the trigger on what could be a revolutionary move.

Then again, maybe they are posturing? Nobody near the top of the draft board wants to show their hand this early, especially with quarterbacks.

Pick No. 7 Jacksonville Jaguars

Why it could happen? The Jags are in the market for a quarterback. That seems pretty certain after Blake Bortles and Cody Kessler both struggled through 2018. There are weapons ready-made to compliment Murray including Lenard Fournette and former teammate Dede Westbrook. There are some questions on the offensive line, but Murray’s athleticism might actually help his case in that regard.

The case against it: This one is all going to come down to taste. Do the Jags like Murray or not? Are they willing to spend a top 10 pick on a budding potential superstar or are they going to go the trade route and try to lure someone like Nick Foles away from Philadelphia. This team proved two years ago that it could succeed with even a serviceable quarterback when Bortles took them all the way to the AFC Championship game. Are they willing to wait on a rookie to develop or is it win now in Jacksonville.
