Big 12 football: How the conference should address rivalry week
Kansas State vs. Colorado
The Wildcats and Buffaloes share more than just a state border. They also have a shared history.
Kansas State and Colorado have played 66 times in the past in a series that dates back to 1912. It’s not as fierce a clash as some of the others on the list, but it will bring a smile to the face of those who remember spendig Saturdays watching Big 8 football.
TCU vs. SMU
This is another rivalry game that is already played every year and just needs to be moved. The Horned Frogs and Mustangs have gone just six football seasons without meeting each other since their first clash in 1915.
Try and tell me that a rivalry involving a trophy called the Iorn Skillet doesn’t belong on Thanksgiving week somewhere?
Baylor vs. Houston
The Cougars said last year they are looking at renewing old Southwest Conference rivalries and what better way to do that than an annual showdown with a fellow Texas private college.
These two teams have met 28 times int he past with Baylor holding a narrow 14-13 -1 lead in the all-time series. If you are looking for some animosity between the two teams, think back to the breakup of the Southwest Conference in the early 90s and the hard feelings that came with that breakup.
