Oklahoma football: The state of the program
Overall
One would have to say the state of the Oklahoma football program is strong.
The future looks bright in Norman with a young, dynamic coaching staff and several years of top end recruiting classes starting to stack up and create championship-level depth.
There’s no reason to believe Oklahoma football won’t be in the College Football Playoff conversation for the foreseeable future, but the question is, can they take the next step and break up the Clemson-Alabama monopoly that currently exists atop the sport?
Lincoln Riley’s teams have proven they belong on the same field with the top teams in the sport, but have yet to have the breakout win that will move them from the second tier up to the top. Unfortunately for Oklahoma football fans, that’s not something they will be able to find out about for another year.
