Oklahoma football: The state of the program
The class is loaded on defense, particularly at pass rusher and secondary, two areas the Sooners struggled mightily last year.
The secondary class includes Woodi Washington and Jaden Davis at corner. Jeremiah Criddell, Jamal Morris and Ty DeArman will all likely play safety. Out of the five players, four have at four-star rating from Rivals.
Pass rushers Joseph Weté, Marcus Stripling, Marcus Hicks, LaRon Stokes and David Ugwoegbu all add the quick, twitchy skillset the Sooners were in need of this past year and could make waves early in the pass-happy Big 12.
The defensive line brings in a pair of guys who look like they could become starters with a little work. Derek Green is a 3-4 nose guard all the way who is still growing into his massive frame and Kori Roberson could become a star at one of the 3-4 defensive end positions.
It will be interesting to see which of these players make an early impact and what this class looks like 3-4 years from now, but for now, it’s hard to deny things are looking up in recruiting thanks to the efforts of Riley and his staff.
