The next 10 games will determine OU’s 2019 postseason future?

There is growing concern in Sooner Nation, especially after the horrific implosion at home (which is never a good sign) that OU’s early season success is headed toward another second-half free fall and that this season the Sooners won’t have the requisite resume builders (quality wins) to make it into the NCAA Tournament. Unless things turn around, and quickly, that premonition may prove to be 100 percent accurate.

OU is currently just three games shy of equaling the 18-win total by last year’s team. Odds are good that the Sooners will pick up at least three more wins in their remaining 10 regular-season games. With the parity that exists up and down the Big 12 this season, though, it won’t be easy, and that is why OU fans are a bit apprehensive about where things might be headed.

The 30-point loss to Baylor on Monday was the worst by the Sooners this season and tied for the second worst in head coach Lon Kruger’s almost eight seasons at Oklahoma. It also was OU’s second home loss this season and second by double digits (Kansas State registered a 17-point road win over OU earlier in the month).

Over the final five and an half weeks of the regular season, the Sooners will play every Big 12 team except Oklahoma State and have a pair of games left against Iowa State and last-place West Virginia. The 10 remaining games are evenly split between home and away, with home games against Texas Tech, Texas and Kansas, who the Sooners lost to on the road (by a combined total of 17 points), as well as Iowa State and West Virginia.
