Who would be on the list of possible transfers?

The most obvious name would be Alabama’s Jalen Hurts.

Hurts is 26-2 as a starter, has led two teams to national championship game appearances and brings an athleticism that could be an x-factor in the Riley offense. He’s also a winner, and much like we said about Mordecai, there’s something you just can’t quantify about guys who know how to win.

As soon as Hurts entered his name into the NCAA transfer portal college football pundits were quick to point to Oklahoma as a possible landing spot along with Miami, Florida State and other suitors.

Hurts would still have to prove himself as a polished passer to make it in Oklahoma’s offense, but there are plenty of reasons to believe he could do that (looking specifically at his comeback performance against Georgia in the SEC title game a few weeks back).

With just one year left before he graduates the real question would be whether Hurts would have enough time to develop in the Riley offense, which is said to be tough on new quarterbacks. Could he pick up the offense, beat out Tanner Mordecai and take the starting job in just a few months?

If he did it would give the Sooners a buffer year to allow both Rattler and Mordecai to develop themselves while also giving Hurts an opportunity to showcase his passing skills for the NFL (not to mention a possibility of a Tua-Hurts playoff matchup that would have the entire country salivating).
