This guy can recruit

Despite spending most of his career at schools farther down college football’s pecking order, Alex Grinch has been reel in talented recruiting classes that fit his scheme. So much so that he served as recruiting coordinator at both Wyoming and New Hampshire.

We mentioned Alex Grinch’s multiple stops in multiple conferences. That means he has recruited all of those areas as well. He has ties on both coasts, the Midwest and perhaps most importantly Texas.

Lincoln Riley said of Alex Grinch in the Sooners’ press release:

"“He’s a very diligent and very, very involved recruiter. His specialty has been the secondary, but he’ll certainly be involved in all aspects of our defensive recruiting. He’s a personable guy and has an outstanding track record in that area. It’s something he’s very invested in and he fits with the standard that we’ve created here. Recruiting is going to be at the forefront of everything we do. Alex certainly agrees with that and fits in perfectly."

Riley showed wizard-like ability bringing in a slew of blue chip defensive talents for early signing day in December despite lingering questions surrounding the defensive coordinator position.

There is still some meat on the bone in the 2019 class with several top targets still on the board and now that Oklahoma has a clear vision on the defensive side of the ball, OU could very well add to what is currently the highest-rated Sooner class since scholarship limits were put in place.

That’s not even to mention the effect Grinch will have on the next recruiting cycle of 2020, which Oklahoma is already diligently attempting to fill. Look for some big news coming out of the the OU spring game this year regarding commitments as Oklahoma has finally matched the youth and excitement on the offensive side with an equally appealing defensive culture.
