Best outcome

In truth, the best outcome of 2018 has probably yet to come from a total team perspective. The best individual performance clearly belongs to Kyler Murray in his 6-touchdown game against Baylor. In terms of the best team outcome, however, in the Sooners first six games of 2018, it is hard not to single out the season-opening win over Florida Atlantic University.

The Sooners jumped out to a 28-0 first-quarter advantage. OU scored on five of its first six offensive possessions and also added a special teams touchdown in rolling to a 42-0 advantage at halftime.

Oklahoma scored three more touchdowns in the second half (scoring on three of five second-half possessions and totaled 650 yards of offense (432 passing and 175 rushing). Murray completed 9 of 11 passes for 209 yards and two touchdowns in just one half of action.

Rodney Anderson led all rushers with 100 yards and two rushing TDs.

This was easily the best defensive outcome of the season so far. The Sooners allowed just 324 total yards and had pitched a shutout until late in the third quarter.
