Oklahoma football is seeking its fourth consecutive win of the 2018 season when the Sooners take on Army on Saturday night for the fourth time in either team’s history.
The Sooners are seeking their 38th win in 44 games in the three-plus seasons Lincoln Riley has been at Oklahoma. It also will be the 119th consecutive sellout at Gaylord Family — Oklahoma Memorial Stadium, dating back to the opening game of the 1999 season.
The past two weeks, OU quarterback Kyler Murray has set career records in passing yards. Murray completed 19 of 33 passes for 308 yards and three touchdowns in the Sooners’ 49-21 win over UCLA, and followed that with 348 passing yards and another three touchdowns last weekend at Iowa State in his first true road start.
Murray, a redshirt junior who played his freshman season at Texas A&M and this summer signed a $4.6 million contract to play baseball in the Oakland A’s organization, also leads Oklahoma in rushing with 169 yards in three games.
In 10 career games for Oklahoma (four of them starts), Murray, the ninth overall pick in the 2018 MLB Draft, has completed 67 of 94 passes (71.3-percent completion percentage) for 1,112 yards and 11 touchdowns.
