The Sooners will not score more than 50 points in a game this season

The Oklahoma offense ranked No. 3 in the country in scoring offense last season, averaging 45.1 points a game. That was with the No. 1 offense among the 130 Football Bowl Subdivision teams and a Heisman Trophy winner at quarterback in Baker Mayfield.

The Sooners scored a season-high 62 points in a win over Oklahoma State a year ago and exceeded 50 points on three other occasions.

Don’t get me wrong, the Oklahoma offense will still be plenty potent in the 2018 season. They just won’t have to put up 50 or more points to beat their opponents, because I believe the Sooner defense is going to be better this season and the need to put seven or more touchdowns on the board every time out won’t be as great as it has been in recent seasons.
