It’s becoming almost cliché — in a very good way, of course. Oklahoma football is the choice of media representatives who cover the Big 12 to win the conference championship again in 2018.

Oklahoma is the top choice; Kansas is the bottom pick. Those are the two highly predictable choices in the media projection of what the Big 12 standings will look like at the end of the 2018 college football season.

The Sooners are the top pick for the third consecutive year in the Big 12 Preseason Football Media Poll. Oklahoma received 46 of the 52 first-place votes cast in the annual poll. West Virgina, picked to finish second to the Sooners in the coming season, garnered two first-place votes. Kansas State received two first-place votes, and Texas and TCU each had one first-place vote.

This is the sixth time in the eight seasons since the Big 12 discontinued a two-division conference structure (beginning in 2011) that Oklahoma has been voted into the top spot in the preseason poll.

Oklahoma received a total of 509 votes. West Virginia was second with 432 votes. A year ago, the Sooners were the top pick and received 19 of 34 first-place votes. OU picked up nine more votes total than second-place choice, Oklahoma State in the 2017 preseason poll.

TCU was the choice of the media to finish third in the 2018 Big 12 race, followed by 4. Texas, 5. Oklahoma State, 6. Kansas State (including two first-place votes), 7. Iowa State, 8. Texas Tech, 9. Baylor and 10. Kansas.
