Patty Gasso

Players come and go and every season brings new challenges, but head coach Patty Gasso is the X-factor that keeps Oklahoma softball at the top of its game each and among the nation’s best every season.

The Sooner head coach is in her 24th season at OU, and she has taken her teams to the postseason in all 24 seasons, including 12 Women’s College World Series appearances and four national championships. The Sooners have won the last two national titles and are seeking a third consecutive national crown this season.

This postseason, Gasso won her 1,200th game at Oklahoma. With 325 Big 12 wins, she is the winningest coach in Big 12 history and has been named Big 12 Coach of the Year 11 times. Her 1,201 wins at OU ranks eighth among Division I active coaches at the same institution.

In the 22 seasons the Big 12 has been in existence, Oklahoma has finished second or better 18 times under Gasso, including seven consecutive conferences championships.
