This Sooner team doesn’t beat itself

Defensively, the Oklahoma pitching staff doesn’t allow many hits and even fewer runs every game out. And if you are able to put the bat on the ball and it stays in fair territory, there is a very high chance that the ball is going to end up in the glove of one of the Sooners or they are going to throw you out.

Oklahoma committed an uncharacteristic two errors each in the regional championship win over Missouri and its opening-game win over Arkansas in the Norman Super Regional. But fielding miscues have been few and far between for the Sooners this season. Their defensive play hasn’t just been good, it’s been superlative.

The Sooners lead the country with a fielding percentage of .987, committing a mere 19 errors in 58 games and 1,122 fielding chances.

With a highly productive offense, exceptional pitching and a championship-quality defense, this Oklahoma bunch is an extremely tough out.
