Oklahoma softball: Five reasons to like OU’s chances of WCWS three-peat

No. 1 scoring offense in the country
When you play Oklahoma this season, you better come to the ball yard ready to score a lot of runs, because that’s what the Sooners do.
The OU softball team leads the nation in scoring offense, averaging over seven runs per game. The Sooners also lead the country in on-base percentage (.433) and slugging percentage (.548).
There are only a handful of teams that have hit more home runs than Oklahoma this season. The Sooners have hit 80 balls out of the park in 58 games, and 28 of those are off the bat of freshman Jocelyn Alo, the nation leader in that category.
The Oklahoma lineup may be the most balanced in the country, top to bottom. There is not an easy out in the one through nine hitters. The Sooners are hitting .328 as a team, which ranks fourth in NCAA Division I.
The explosive Oklahoma offense accounted for 21 run-rule victories (leading by eight or more runs after five complete innings) in the 2018 season. Alo and junior third baseman Sydney Romero both rank in the top-25 nationally in RBI.
Oh, and did we mention that OU’s 55-3 record and .948 winning percentage is also the best in the nation this season.
