Oklahoma baseball will take its show on the road later this week, headed to Florida State for the NCAA Tallahassee Regional.

The NCAA on Monday announced the regional sites and pairings for the NCAA Baseball Championship, which begins this weekend at 16 different locations across the country.

The Sooners (36-23), the fourth-place team in the Big 12 regular season, are one of the three teams being hosted by Florida State (43-17), the No. 7 overall seed in the championship. As the host school, the Seminoles are the No. 1 seed in the Tallahassee Regional.

Florida State also was a fourth-place team this season, finishing fourth in the Atlantic Division of the Atlantic Coast Conference with a 16-11 league record. The Seminoles made up for that, however, winning the ACC Championship this weekend and earning the conferences automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.

This is Florida State’s 41st consecutive appearance in an NCAA baseball regional.

Oklahoma is the No. 3 seed in the Tallahassee Regional and will face No. 2 Mississippi State (31-25) in its opening game in the double-elimination tournament. Mississippi State was fifth in the West Division of the Southeastern Conference with a 15-15 record. The Bulldogs were eliminated in their first game in the SEC postseason Tournament.

Samford (36-24), located in Birmingham, Alabama is the No. 4 seed in Tallahassee and will play host Florida State in its first-round game. Also nicknamed the Bulldogs, Samford won the Southern Conference postseason championship.

Oklahoma and Mississippi State have played each other four times total before this season. The Sooners are 2-1 in those games and one game ended in a tie. OU is 2-1 also against Samford and 1-2 all-time versus Florida State.

This will be the Sooners 38th appearance in the NCAA Baseball Championship. They are 80-71 all-time in NCAA postseason history. A year ago, OU was 1-2 in the Louisville Regional. Oklahoma was absent from the NCAA Tournament the three seasons before that.
