Roy Williams was a first-round selection of the Dallas Cowboys, the No. 8 player selected overall, in the 2002 NFL Draft.

The Kansas City Chiefs traded their No. 8 pick in the first-round of the 2002 draft to the Cowboys in exchange for Dallas’ No. 6 pick, a third-round pick in the 2002 draft and a 2003 sixth round pick. The Cowboys used the No. 8 pick to select Williams
