Record-setting crowd was 12th-man worthy

At the beginning of the week, quarterback Baker Mayfield had called out the Sooner fans, asking them to show up in big numbers – which is hardly a problem at OU football games – and be loud and high-spirited for the important home game with TCU.

The Oklahoma fans did more than just show up, they did so in record numbers. And believe me, the place was loud and rocking.

TCU head coach usually gathers his team around him on the field at halftime to address them before departing for the locker room. On Saturday night, however, he said he couldn’t even hear himself speak, so he elected to go straight to the locker room before saying anything to the team.

Well done, Sooner fans!

The attendance for Saturday’s game was 88,308, the largest crowd to attend a game at Gaylord Family – Oklahoma Memorial Stadium and the 115th consecutive home sellout. It was the 13th largest crowd anywhere to witness an Oklahoma football game.
