Mayfield being Mayfield

What more can you say about Baker Mayfield. The player FOX play-by-play announcer Gus Johnson calls “The Magic Man” rolled out his bag of tricks once again in the Sooners’ thrashing of TCU, completing 18 of 27 passes (67 percent) for 333 yard and, oh yes, three touchdowns. The OU quarterback also toted the rock 11 times for an additional 50 yards on the ground.

Mayfield came into the TCU as just about everybody’s front-runner for this year’s Heisman Trophy, did nothing on Saturday to dispel that standing. In fact, he probably further strengthened his claim on college football most prestigious individual prize by his performance against one of the better teams in the country.

In 35 games as the Oklahoma starting quarterback, the former walk-on has thrown at least three touchdown passes with no interceptions in 14 games. Mayfield has thrown at least two touchdown passes in a Big 12-record 23 consecutive games.
