Don’t let a huge emotional win negatively affect the team’s play the following weekend

With all the emotion and energy that was expended in the Bedlam win over Oklahoma State on Saturday, it could be difficult for the Sooners to rise to the same level, both physically as well an mentally, for a second big game in as many weeks.

There is no denying that Bedlam is a big game every year and takes a lot out of the players on both sides. Baker Mayfield said after OU’s win over Oklahoma State on Saturday that he was totally spent. But the Sooner have to find a way to put the Oklahoma State game behind them now and get ready for another tough challenge this weekend when the Associated Press No. 8 team comes to Norman.

TCU may be the best team the Sooners face all season, and that is definitely true when it comes to the best defensive team. TCU also beat Oklahoma State in Stillwater this season, and they held the high-scoring Cowboy offense to 31 points, well below their 43-point average.

The Sooners can’t afford a letup against a team that is stronger all around than Oklahoma State and has a history of playing extremely well on the road against Oklahoma. OU will have to bring it with the same fire and intensity, sense of urgency and level of execution offensively that they did at Oklahoma State. Anything less will not get the job done.
