Oklahoma football: Ranking the the Sooner teams of the past seven decades

#6 — 2010s Oklahoma Sooners Football (73-19-0)

Obviously, the second decade of the 21st century is incomplete at this stage with three more seasons to go to make it a full 10 seasons.

Bob Stoops coached the first seven seasons and produced 73 wins and a winning percentage of .793, which currently ranks fourth best all time in 13 decades and 122 years of Oklahoma football.

The Sooners have captured four Big 12 championships in the seven seasons thus far and finished in the top 10 of the final Associated Press rankings four times since the 2010 season.

Oklahoma has been to a postseason bowl every season in this decade, including two Sugar Bowl appearances and one trip to the College Football Playoff. The Sooners have a 4-3 record in bowl participation since the 2010 season.

The Sooners have produced six First Team All-Americans in the decade and four first-round NFL draft picks. In the 2010 NFL Draft (following the 2009 season) three of the first four selections were from Oklahoma, including the No. 1 overall draft pick, Sam Bradford.

Samaje Perine, the all-time Oklahoma rushing yards leader set an NCAA record with 427 yards in a 2014 game against Kansas.

Lincoln Riley is in the saddle now as the Sooners head coach, with three more seasons to go before closing the book on the decade of the 2010s. It is Riley’s first rodeo as a head coach at the college level, but he is not new to the Oklahoma football program. He has been the offensive coordinator for the Sooners the past two seasons.
