November 18 – The Sooners head north, again, to neighboring Kansas

They have a saying in Kansas Jayhawk country: Football season is a break of sorts before basketball season comes around. And there’s little doubt that the performance of the Jayhawks in football has been less than stellar for a long time, lending considerable truth to that statement.

The 2017 season may be more of the same for the Jayhawks, who admittedly are getting better but are still several notches below the rest of the league. Kansas has a rough go at the back end of its schedule, visiting Texas, hosting Oklahoma, then finishing on the road against Oklahoma State. Ouch!

A year ago, the Jayhawks got an Oklahoma team that was thoroughly embarrassed in the aftermath of the defensive debacle that was the Texas Tech game. The Sooners responded by taking out their frustrations on Kansas to the tune of 56-3, in a laugher of a game that was pretty well decided early on in the contest.

Unless something goes horribly awry, the result in 2017 should be similar for the Sooners. Kansas simply doesn’t have the offensive or defensive personnel to matchup with Oklahoma, so this one shouldl be decided early on as well. The key for the Sooners is to execute their offensive and defensive game plans, tune-up for the Big 12 homestretch and, above all, avoid any major injuries. This game will be especially improtantl if Oklahoma is in the running for a College Football Playoff spot at this point in the season.

Predicted Score – Sooners 63, Jayhawks 7
