Jordan Parker to Start Opposite Jordan Thomas at Cornerback Spot

Sophomore Jordan Parker is expected to be the starting cornerback opposite another Jordan, Jordan Thomas, when Oklahoma’s 2017 season kicks off in September.

Parker started the final eight games a year ago and is expected to solidify a defensive position that was in a lot of flux because of poor play, injuries and personal issues for almost half of last season.

Parker was one of the newcomers a year ago who got progressively better as he gained more playing time, and the Sooners are confident that growth will carry over into his sophomore season.

He made his collegiate debut five games into the 2016 season against Texas. Parker had four tackles against the Longhorns, which earned him his first start the following week against Kansas State. He recorded five tackles against K-State and logged seven more in the next game, against Iowa State.

Parker finished the 2016 season with 36 tackles, 31 of them of the solo variety.

Unfortunately, the second-year cornerback suffered a broken foot during spring practice. He will be sidelined for about eight weeks, but he is expected to be fully recovered and ready to go for the start of the 2017 season.
