After winning  21 of its first 24 games, Sooner baseball has come back to earth some and split a dozen games since.

The Sooners, who lost two of three at Texas over the weekend, dropped another one on the road on Tuesday night, falling 3-2 to the Oral Roberts Golden Eagles in a game played in Tulsa.

The Golden Eagles put a three-spot on the board in the fourth inning, and that was all they needed to hand 16th-ranked Oklahoma its ninth loss of the season to go along with 27 wins.

Runs have been hard to come by for the Sooners when they play at J.L. Johnson Stadium in Tulsa. The Sooners scored a single run in the top of the third inning on Tuesday to get on the board first on Tuesday night. That ended a 25-inning scoreless streak by OU in games played there. The last time an Oklahoma runner crossed home plate at J.L. Johnson Stadium was back in 2013.

Oklahoma defeated this same Golden Eagles team just one week ago, winning 6-2 in Norman.

The Sooners are 39-34 all-time against Oral Roberts in baseball, but are just 12-16 when the two teams play in Tulsa.

OU managed just five hits against three Oral Roberts pitchers. Hits have been difficult to come by recently for the Big 12′ s second-best hitting team. The Sooners had only 19 hits total in their three-game weekend series against the Texas Longhorns.

Sophomore right-handed Austin Hansen ran the table on threes as the OU starter in the game , going three-plus innings and giving up all three Oral Roberts runs on three hits. He retired the first nine batters he faced in the first three innings, before the Golden Eagles scored three times in the fourth.

Hansen suffered the loss, his first as a Sooner after posting seven consecutive wins over two seasons.

Sophomore outfielder Steele Walker continues to wield a hot bat for the Sooners. He was one for four on Tuesday night and drove in his team-high 33rd run of the season.
