Lon Kruger Leading OU Men’s Basketball to Another Final Four

Football has always been king at Oklahoma, as it is at many major schools. But that doesn’t mean you can’t be elite in other sports, as well.

Over the years, Oklahoma has been blessed with a number of outstanding basketball team, both in the men’s and women’s ranks. The Sooners made an outstanding hire when they lured veteran head coach Lon Kruger to come to Norman in 2011.

Kruger has been a winner everywhere he has gone in the college ranks and is one of only two coaches to take five different schools, including Oklahoma, to the NCAA Tournament. Kruger’s teams have improved in each of his five seasons in Norman, and last season the Sooners won 29 times and advanced to their fifth Final Four in program history.

That doesn’t happen often, if ever, at a school that claims football as its predominant sport.
