OU Men’s Basketball Makes It a Final Four Double-Double for the Sooners

Oklahoma not only placed a team in the College Football Playoff last season (technically in 2015, but we include it because the actual national championship wasn’t decided until January), but was the only school to also have a team advance to the Final Four of the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament.

The No. 2-seeded Sooners, led by National Player of the Year and consensus All-American Buddy Hield, were the champions of the NCAA West Regional and went on to face eventual national champion Villanova in one of the national semifinal games.

Hield was held to just nine points, 16 below his season average, and Villanova shot an incredible 71 percent from the field as the Wildcats steamrolled the Sooners 95-51.

Despite the disappointment of the Final Four loss, the Sooners’ 29 wins last season were the sixth most in program history, and 2015-16 OU basketball was truly a season to be thankful for.
