Oklahoma Football: More Takeaways From the Shootout at Texas Tech

The Path Ahead
In spite of the pitfalls, the fact remains that Oklahoma is unbeaten in Big 12 play. The game against Kansas this Saturday should provide Sooner coaches with a great opportunity to work on fixing the defensive issues and perhaps give some of the younger defenders on the roster more game experience and a chance to showcase what they can do.
After that, the Sooners must travel to Ames, Iowa, for a potential Thursday night trap game against the Iowa State Cyclones, who have been known to surprise better teams at home. The Sooners then enter the meat of the Big 12 schedule, hosting a dangerous Baylor team on Nov. 12 then, traveling to West Virginia for what could be the game that decides the Big 12 title against a Mountaineer squad that is playing very well defensively.
As always, Oklahoma will finish out the season hosting the Bedlam game in Norman.
The key for Oklahoma is simple: Continue to play well on offense while retooling the defense enough to at least slow down the high-powered Big 12 offenses remaining on the schedule. Succeed at this task, and Oklahoma will be looking at another Big 12 title and a marquee bowl game. And who knows, if things fall just the right way, the Sooners could sneak into the College Football Playoff.
