Senior Wide Receiver Jarvis Baxter

Jarvis Baxter is entering his second season playing at Oklahoma. He is a junior-college transfer from Trinity Valley (Texas) Community College, where he lead his team his sophomore season with 62 receptions for 1,205 yards and 18 touchdowns. He also returned punts for 200 yards.

In his debut season for the Sooners, the 5-foot, 11-inch, 160-pound receiver had a modest 20 receptions for 218 yards. Baxter, who wears the No. 1 jersey, hit the ground running in his first game as a Sooners. In the 2015 season home-opener against the Akron Zips, the speedy Baxter hauled in a game-high five passes from quarterback Baker Mayfield for 51 yards. That was his most productive game of the season.

Baxter caught his lone touchdown catch of the season in his third game as a Sooner, a 29-yard TD grab from Mayfield in an Oklahoma nonconference win over Tulsa.

Baxter played in all 13 games last season and drew a starting assignment in five of them. He capped off a solid season with three catches against Clemson in the College Football Playoff.

You can expect to see a lot more of and from Baxter in 2016. The year of experience, learning the offense and his assignment in offensive coordinator Lincoln Riley’s Air Raid offense should greatly benefit Baxter and the Sooner offense.
