James Washington, Oklahoma State Cowboys Junior Wide Receiver

Baylor’s KD Cannon isn’t the only burner among the talented wide receivers Oklahoma will go up against in 2016. James Washington, an Oklahoma State junior is another that can be a nightmare to cover.

Washington led the nation last season with 4 receptions of 70 or more yards. One of those long catch-and-runs was against Oklahoma, a 72-yard reception that went for a touchdown. He had a game-high seven pass receptions for 169 yards against the Sooners last season.

He had five games in the 2015 season in which he had 100 or more yards receiving, including a 200-yard effort against Texas Tech and a 184-yard receiving game vs. TCU. Washington had five touchdown catches combined in those two games, both Oklahoma State wins.

Washington caught 28 passes for 456 yards and a team-high six touchdowns in his freshman season in 2014, and he doubled that output his second year with 53 receptions for 1,087 yards and 10 touchdowns. His 19.0 yards-per-reception career average is a school record.

Those in the media who cover Oklahoma State sports believe Washington is the next man up in a line of great receivers who played at OSU, including Dez Bryant, Justin Blackmon and, more recently, Josh Stewart. His performance so far certainly warrants that kind of consideration.
