Tim McCalister (1983-87), Third Team Guard

Tim McCalister played in 136 career games at Oklahoma to rank second behind Darryl Kennedy. He is third on the Sooner career scoring chart with 2,275 points and a 16.73 average over four college seasons. He is the seventh leading scorer in Big Eight history.

The Sooners won the Big Eight championship his first two seasons at Oklahoma (1983-84 and 1984-85). Oklahoma never won fewer than 24 games in the four seasons McAlister was there, playing under the Sooners’ all-time winningest coach, Billy Tubbs.

McCalister was named Big Eight Newcomer of the Year his freshman season in 1983-84, when he scored 16.1 points. His best season was his final one, in 1986-87, when he scored 19.8 points and was named First Team All-Big Eight.

McCalister was a long-range artist. His senior year was the first season of the three-point shot in college basketball. He averaged nearly three made three-pointers per game that season.

He was drafted by the NBA Los Angeles Clippers in the 1987 draft, but never played in the league. McCalister did play briefly in the United States Basketball League and in Europe.
