You might think that by calling the OU-Tennessee game on the road the Biggest or Most Important Game of the year that would make it, by definition, the Most Difficult Road Game of the season. Sorry to disappoint, but that is not the case – not this season, anyway.
The Tennessee game is actually a winnable game for Oklahoma. Not saying that OU will prevail in Knoxville, but the chances of winning there are much greater than they will be at Baylor, where the Sooners have gone down to defeat the last two times they have visited Waco.
Therefore, the Sooners’ most difficult road test will be at Baylor on Nov. 14. The Bears are deserving of their high national ranking and likely will be riding an undefeated momentum wave of their own when they meet up with Oklahoma.
The last two times OU and Baylor have met, the Bears have won by a combined margin of 62 points (48-14 in Norman a year ago and 41-13 in 2013 at Baylor. Interestingly, the Sooners were 19-0 against Baylor all-time until they suffered their first loss against a Baylor team led by Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback Robert Griffin III. Since that time, Oklahoma is just 2-3 in games against Baylor.
Oklahoma also must go on the road this season in its Bedlam Series matchup against in-state rival Oklahoma State. While OSU is considered one of the most difficult places to play in the Big 12, the Sooners have enjoyed unusual success their in recent seasons. OU has won five of the last six games it has played in Stillwater.
