Offensive Line
At this time last year, offensive line coach Bill Bedenbaugh was blessed with an offensive line he called the best he has had in his short time at OU. After losing four starters off of last year’s offensive line, the Sooners go from feast to famine and a rebuild year in the trenches on offense. Center Ty Darlington is the lone returning starter. Two of the departing starters – tackles Tyrus Thompson and Daryl Williams – were NFL draft selections this past spring.
At this time, it appears that the two tackles flanking Darlington on the O-line will be 6-4, 315-pound senior Nila Kasitati and 6-5 3-1-pound junior Jamal Danley. Seniors Josiah St. John, 6-6, 309 pounds, and Derek Farniok, 6-9, 345 pounds, appear set at the offensive guard spots.
The starting five on the offensive line should be pretty solid, but there is concern about depth and inexperience at the position beyond the starters. Grade: C
