The 6-4, 283-pound defensive end has started 25 of Oklahoma’s last 26 games. He was an All-Big 12 First Team selection in 2013. Tapper is a 2015 preseason candidate for two national awards.

Bednarik Award – This award recognizes the College Defensive Player of the Year. Fellow Sooner defensive players Eric Striker and Zack Sanchez are also 2015 candidates for this award, which has only been won once before by an OU player: linebacker Teddy Lehman in 2003.

Nagurski Award – The Sooners have this national honor surrounded, with Dominique Alexander, Zack Sanchez and Eric Striker joining Tapper as 2015 preseason candidates. The Nagurski Award recognizes the best defensive player in college football.
