Hoodie Allen references Oklahoma Sooners in latest track, “Act My Age”
By Joe Buettner
Forgive me, but it’s a bye week. And as a hip-hop head, I can’t help but appreciate when a popular rap artist drops a reference to Oklahoma.
Rap artist Hoodie Allen, popular for the song “Cake Boy,” used the Oklahoma Sooners as a metaphor in his track, “Act My Age,” which will be on his upcoming album “People Keep Talking.”
The lyrics (around the 1:25 mark) go a little like this:
"Everybody wait around, hoping that they blow upbut I’m make it Sooner…Oklahoma"
The song contains explicit lyrics, but it’s still cool to hear a rap artist not named Riff Raff reference the Sooners in a song. Also, if you’ve never heard of Hoodie Allen before, I highly recommend downloading his mixtape “Leap Year.”
Hoodie’s next album drops October 14, though, you can already download “Act My Age” on iTunes.
Anyway, it’s a slow news day. However, Norman’s street cred continues to rise!
