Oklahoma Sooners blast Tulsa Golden Hurricane, 52-7
By Joe Buettner
The Oklahoma Sooners followed up their season-opening victory over Louisiana Tech with another blowout. However, the Tulsa Golden Hurricane was the latest victim of an Oklahoma beat down.
Trevor Knight and the Sooners raced past the Hurricane, winning 52-7 on Tulsa’s home turf. While the weather was not pretty at H.A. Chapman Stadium, OU’s performance was a thing of beauty.

Oklahoma received the ball to open the game. Three plays later, Keith Ford was standing in the end zone to score OU’s first touchdown of the day.
Tulsa spotted the Oklahoma Sooners offense 31 points before Dane Evans finally hit Keevan Lucas for a short touchdown pass in the third quarter. The Golden Hurricane just couldn’t contain the Oklahoma Sooners offense.
Trevor Knight threw for 299 yards and scored twice through the air—one to Blake Bell and the other to Sterling Shepard. Knight, also, used his feet to run in a 31-yard touchdown in the first quarter.
Oklahoma’s defense made its stops, but star cornerback Zack Sanchez left the game in the first half and stood on the sideline wearing a sling for the rest of the game. It looks like Sanchez will be fine, though.
Jordan Phillips picked up a fumble for a long recovery that was called back. Tulsa-native Alex Ross made up for it on the next play, running 82 yards in to the end zone.
Though the game was over, Geneo Grissom picked off Dane Evans and took it back to the end zone as Tulsa was no match for the fourth-ranked team in the country.
The Oklahoma Sooners improved to 2-0 with the win, and controlled this one from the get-go.
Oklahoma really limited their mistakes, and they’ll go in to week three with a lot of confidence following two huge victories.
