Top-Ranked Oklahoma Defense Finds Young Leader In Sophomore Zack Sanchez

"Zack Sanchez entered last season as an unknown, one of many young players on a team looking to rebuild after a 2012 season that that saw the Sooners’ defense routinely torched by opposing offenses. Sanchez, a redshirt freshman, emerged from preseason practice a year ago as a starting cornerback and steadily improved throughout a season that was capped by a star turn in a win over Alabama in the Sugar Bowl. Only a sophomore, Sanchez now is considered a leader of a defense that is being touted as one of the nation’s best. Read more at Fox News Latino"

Cornerback Dakota Austin keeping chip on shoulder

"Oklahoma sophomore cornerback Dakota Austin never understood why he was so lightly recruited out of Lancaster (Texas) High School. Rivals considered Austin a two-star prospect, and his offer list included the likes of UNLV, Nevada, Tulsa and UTEP before the Sooners came with a late offer just before signing day 2013. “You know, I look around and there’s people — not here or anybody in particular — but you know, I’m looking around, going to camps and all that, and there are people I feel like I’m way better than, and they have like 20 big offers,” Austin said this week. “They’re deciding where they want to go, and I’m struggling. While the senior running backs last year weren’t superstars, they provided a veteran presence this new group can’t match. Read More at News On 6"

Nearly a week into camp, the Sooners size up Dorial Green-Beckham

"Nearly one week into camp, we’ve had the opportunity to ask Oklahoma Sooners about new teammate Dorial Green-Beckham. Let’s go to the quoteboard…CB Zack Sanchez: “He’s a big guy, real physical. He goes up and catches the ball well. That helps me a lot when I’m on a tight end that big or when I’m playing a big wide receiver. He’s doing a real good job of getting us ready for that type of receiver that we play on Saturday.” Read More at OU Sports Extra"

Johnny Manziel’s attorney representing OU quarterback Baker Mayfield

"As Oklahoma walk-on quarterback Baker Mayfield battles to gain immediate eligibility, he has a powerful partner by his side. Mayfield’s family has hired Jim Darnell, the attorney who represented Johnny Manziel last season and has plenty of experience going head-to-head with the NCAA. The family is hoping to have Mayfield declared eligible through an appeal to the NCAA. But if the NCAA denies the appeal, the case could go to court. Read more at The Oklahoman"
