Call me crazy, but when Bob Stoops name drops a player as a possible All-American candidate, you have to think Oklahoma can not afford to lose Hunnicutt.
He’s been money as the team’s starting kicker the past three years, and in 2014, Oklahoma will need him to continue his clutch ways.
Kickers are really important. They stand on the sideline most of the game, but they can make or break your season.
Hunnicutt’s leg has rarely missed while at Oklahoma, earning him love from the Lou Groza Award as a semifinalist last season.
Oklahoma has the luxury of a seasoned kicker, who been’s there and done that. And with Oklahoma vying for a College Football Playoff spot, it could down come down to Hunnicutt’s leg.
But just for safety, let’s hope it doesn’t come down to a game-winning field goal and then the players end up in a Sugar Bowl they “don’t care about.”
