2014 has its question marks, but the Oklahoma Sooners are in a better position than they were a year ago. The Sooners had a quarterback battle that lasted virtually the length of the season. They dealt with injuries to players, that at the time, some would argue OU couldn’t afford to lose.
However, Oklahoma found a way to regroup and rebrand itself as a college football powerhouse.
Oklahoma has lost some steam these past few seasons, but a strong finish propelled Oklahoma to the no. 3 spot in the 2014 preseason Coaches Poll.
The Sooners are not short on talent. They have one of the best linebacking corps and defensive lines in the country. Also, the Sooners have a returning quarterback, which is a little more comforting than not knowing who “the guy” is under center.
But after season-ending injuries to fullback Trey Millard, linebacker Corey Nelson, and defensive tackle Jordan Phillips, it makes you wonder: who is the guy Oklahoma truly can not afford to lose this season? Who is their most valuable player?
So in my humble opinion, I’d like to rank the most valuable players on the Oklahoma Sooners’ 2014 roster.
