Four Sooners named preseason All-Big 12; OSU’s Hill tabbed as Newcomer of the Year
"Four Oklahoma Sooners were named to the 2014 Preseason All-Big 12 Conference team announced on Wednesday morning. Placekicker Michael Hunnicutt, cornerback Zack Sanchez, outside linebacker Eric Striker and offensive tackle Daryl Williams were voted All-Big 12 by media that covers the league. No Oklahoma State players made the team — OSU was the only team without a representative — but OSU wide receiver Tyreek Hill was forecast as Newcomer of the Year. John E. Hoover, Tulsa World"
Kansas State Contest Marks Fourth Sellout
The University of Oklahoma Athletics Department announced Wednesday that the Sooners’ home football game against Kansas State (Oct. 18) is sold out. Four of Oklahoma’s six home games for the 2014 season are now sold out, as it has been previously announced that contests against Tennessee (Sept. 13), Baylor (Nov. 8) and Oklahoma State (Dec. 6) have exhausted their tickets. SportsDayDFW projects Oklahoma as 2014 Big 12 champions
"OSU and OU: Oklahoma will enter the game undefeated in league play and likely vying for a spot in the college football playoff. This heated rivalry could go either way, but the fact that it’s being played in Norman, along with what’s at stake, gives the Sooners a slight edge. The game will be a high-scoring affair with Trevor Knight and Sterling Shepard hooking up for the game-winner. SportsDayDFW"
Why Alex Ross, Not Joe Mixon, Could Be Oklahoma’s Biggest Secret Weapon at RB
"When all is said and done, the Oklahoma Sooners’ biggest production at running back may come from the player with the smallest expectations. In other words: Redshirt sophomore Alex Ross is poised to surprise a lot of people in 2014. The low expectations for the Jenks, Oklahoma, native weren’t always the case. In fact, Ross was listed as a 4-star recruit coming out of Jenks High in 2012. Sebastian Lena, Bleacher Report"
"This week’s feature subject is 6-10, 196-pound freshman Jamuni McNeace (first name pronounced juh-MUN-ee). Spending his youth bouncing back and forth between his native state of Illinois and Texas, McNeace is relatively new to the game of basketball. As a 5-10 guard, he was cut from the freshman hoops team at Allen High School before moving back to Illinois the summer before his sophomore year. Sooner Sports"
