Oklahoma, Michigan schedule home-and-home series for 2025 and 2026
By Joe Buettner
Monday afternoon, the University of Oklahoma announced a marquee home-and-home football series with the Michigan Wolverines.
The Sooners will host the Wolverines Sept. 6, 2025. Oklahoma will then travel to Ann Arbor Sept. 12, 2026 for a road game at “The Big House.”
Here is a statement from Oklahoma AD Joe Castiglione (via Sooner Sports):
"“We remain committed to playing games that celebrate the history and excitement of college football,” said OU Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics and Director of Athletics Joe Castiglione. “We’re grateful for head coach Bob Stoops, who shares that commitment. Oklahoma and Michigan represent two of the most iconic names in American sport and we look forward to a series that will be marked by mutual respect and admiration. We also know how truly special these opportunities are for student-athletes, as well as our fans and college football fans everywhere. I want to express my appreciation to Michigan Athletics Director Dave Brandon, who shares our philosophy.”"
With the birth of a new era in college football, this type of game certainly helps Oklahoma’s cause with the College Football Playoff committee. While these two storied programs cannot truly determine how good one another will by 2025, it is still a big move that both fan bases will enjoy.

Michigan Stadium and the Wolverines football program are iconic to college football. Michigan hasn’t won a National Championship since 1997, but they’re still an elite program that shares the same rich tradition Oklahoma does.
They’ll get the opportunity to come to Gaylord Family-Oklahoma Memorial Stadium well after it’s expected renovations are completed. And by that time, who knows what Oklahoma’s team will have accomplished a decade from now.
All that is certain is the dates, but this is a big move by both universities to continue with scheduling tough out of conference games that make college football all the better.
It’s just a bummer how far out these games will be.
