Within moments, the Oklahoma Sooners once again boasted the best 2027 recruiting class in the country.

Elite defenders Taven Epps and Deven Robertson during the Navy All-American Bowl on Saturday both announced commitments to OU within minutes of each other. The new additions to the Sooners' 2027 class immediately propelled them back to the No. 1 spot over Texas A&M in 247Sports' team recruiting rankings.

Sooners get commitments from Taven Epps and Deven Robertson to surpass Texas A&M in recruiting rankings

The Sooners were early leaders in the class after a strong start that included landing a pair of local five-star products in offensive linemen Kaeden Penny and Cooper Hackett. Texas A&M eventually surpassed the Sooners, though, while Ohio State and Texas Tech are still ahead of OU in Rivals' rankings.

The addition of two All-Americans was enough for 247Sports to put the Sooners back at No. 1, as of Monday. Epps was the first of the duo to announce his decision. According to the 247Sports Composite, Epps, a four-star recruit from California, is the No. 7 linebacker in the class and just outside the top 100 of overall prospects. His decision came down between Alabama, Georgia, USC and Texas, where he was originally committed to make the win even sweeter for OU.

Robertson is a three-star defensive lineman from Mississippi and the No. 48 defensive lineman in the class, according to the 247Sports Composite. His final choices included Texas A&M, Ole Miss, Notre Dame and Ohio State.

Epps and Robertson put the Sooners at 13 total commitments so far in the 2027 class. While OU has already tallied 13 commits, no other team in the country has more than nine yet. The group cannot sign until early December, so if the Sooners can keep at least most of the group together the rest of the year, they'll have one of, if not the best 2027 recruiting class in the country.
