It's safe to say that the heartache isn't going anywhere soon for Patty Gasso and Oklahoma. Right now, the Sooners should be getting ready to push for the Women's College World Series glory. Instead, the stunning Super Regionals loss to Mississippi State was posted and OU will have to watch things from home.

Don't forget that Oklahoma was previously the overwhelming favorite to win it all, but things have obviously changed in a big way there. With the Sooners out of the hunt, Alabama has become the new favorite with +400 odds, with UCLA at +430. To make matters worse, Texas is close behind on the list at +450. Ugh.

Alabama softball is the new WCWS favorite with Oklahoma now out of the hunt
It's bad enough that Gasso isn't pushing for her ninth World Series title, but can you imagine if the Crimson Tide end up lifting the trophy? Despite the Sooners still being pretty dang new to the SEC, it's never a great feeling when you see a conference foe win it all. Luckily Alabama isn't a huge rival, but it still won't be fun to see them celebrate in style if it happens.
Then of course there's the Longhorns. Under no circumstances do the Oklahoma faithful want to see Mike White and Texas get this done. Fans don't care if it's a chess match, softball or anything else - if the Longhorns are involved, everyone back home in Norman is going to be cheering like heck that a loss is going to be on the way.
We'll have to wait and see how things go down in the WCWS, but again, the Sooners won't be part of things. The season ended in devastating fashion, with Texas Tech going to Love's Field and winning the three-game series 2-1. In Game 3, the Oklahoma bats went cold, which was of course frustrating to see for Gasso and the staff.
Despite that loss, Gasso and the Sooners put on a clinic on how to handle a defeat with class, as program legend Samantha Ricketts and her Red Raiders were able to pull off a shocking upset. Hey, if Ricketts and Tech win the natty, we'd be ready to tip our caps to them for continuing to silence the haters. Alabama or Texas, though? Yeah, that's a big no thanks for everyone who loves all things Oklahoma.
