After over two weeks of Transfer Portal silence, the Oklahoma Sooners all of a sudden made another addition to their offensive line.

Collin Kennedy of 247Sports reported on Saturday that Eastern Kentucky transfer offensive lineman Fred Hinton signed with the Sooners as their 17th transfer addition this cycle and first since Jan. 16.

Oklahoma adda Eastern Kentucky OL Fred Hinton from Transfer Portal

Hinton, listed at 6-foot-4 and 318 pounds, will have two years of eligibility left at OU. He spent two seasons at Eastern Kentucky and appeared in 23 games while making six starts, with five coming this past season at left tackle.

He was a consensus three-star recruit in the 2024 class out of IMG Academy in Florida, where he was teammates and in the same class as OU defensive tackles David Stone and Jayden Jackson. Hinton had offers from Memphis, South Florida, Arkansas State, East Carolina, Florida Atlantic, Louisiana and more out of high school. Hinton was again a three-star prospect as a transfer, according to 247Sports.

The Sooners return four of five solidified starters from this past season's offensive line, including Michael Fasusi, Ryan Fodje, Jake Maikkula and Eddy Pierre-Louis. However, after losing eight big men this offseason between the portal and exhausted eligibility, OU desperately needed more depth along the front.

Hinton was the fourth new offensive lineman the Sooners added from the portal this cycle, including Caleb Nitta from Western Kentucky, E'Marion Harris from Arkansas and Peyton Joseph from Georgia Tech. Of the group, Hinton, Harris and Joseph are all expected to play tackle for the Sooners, so OU should be complete there now.
