Early National Signing Day has passed, but that doesn't mean recruiting has stopped for Brent Venables and his staff at Oklahoma.
The transfer portal officially opened on Monday, and the Sooners have reportedly already been after some talent that's available.
This list will be updated as more reports and announcements come to light.
Ethan Onianwa, OL, Rice
SoonerScoop reported Wednesday that the Sooners have made Ethan Onianwa "a priority."
ESPN ranked Onianwa as the best offensive tackle currently in the transfer portal, meaning he would probably immediately find a starting spot on OU's O-line. And despite coming from an American Conference program, Onianwa has SEC size, listed at 6-foot-6 and 345 pounds as a redshirt junior.
Onianwa allowed just one sack on 294 pass blocking snaps this season, and he would join an offensive line group that broke program sack records this season.
Reggie Virgil, WR, Miami (OH)
The Sooners have lost five wide receivers to the transfer portal, but they're also trying to get some receiving talent from the portal.
Reggie Virgil on Monday announced an offer from OU. It was the first offer he announced after entering the portal, but plenty more followed the Sooners, including Arkansas, Texas Tech, Florida, Florida State, Miami (FL), Michigan and more.
Virgil is a junior with one year of eligibility left. This season, he had 41 catches, 816 receiving yards and nine TDs. He would add needed size to OU's receiving group at 6-foot-4.
Ultimately, the Sooners missed out on Virgil. He committed to Texas Tech.
Derrick Simmons, OL, Western Carolina
The Sooners are looking everywhere for big bodies on the offensive line.
Derrick Simmons on Monday announced an offer from OU. He has also announced offers from Kentucky, Florida State, Kansas State, Michigan State, Texas Tech and more.
Simmons has the size to compete in the SEC at 6-foot-6 and 325 pounds. He will have one year of eligibility left as a graduate transfer.
247Sports reported Wednesday that Simmons is scheduled to visit Norman this weekend.
Luke McGary, TE, Tulsa
OU didn't have to look far to find Luke McGary.
McGary announced an offer from OU on Thursday, even before the portal officially opened. His other announced offers include Oklahoma State, LSU, Colorado, Mississippi State, Georgia Tech, Washington and more.
A sophomore, McGary played in almost every game during his first years at Tulsa, which fired coach Kevin Wilson a week before the season ended. This season, McGary caught 17 passes for 231 yards and a TD. He's listed at 6-foot-3 and 240 pounds.
R.J. Jackson Jr., DL, Tulsa
The Sooners were after another talent from another in-state school. R.J. Jackson Jr. announced an OU offer, along with offers from Washington State, Boise State, UCF and others so far.
Jackson is an Oklahoma product from Choctaw and immediately saw the field when he got to Tulsa last year. This season as a sophomore, he played in every game while accumulating 35 tackles, four TFLs and three sacks. He would also still have a redshirt to use.
Jackson ultimately chose UCF.
Nyziah Hunter, WR, California
Nyziah Hunter was Cal's top receiver this season and has drawn a lot of interest in the portal, including from the Sooners. He announced an offer from OU, as well as from Oklahoma State, Utah, Arizona State, Kansas State, Nebraska, Kentucky, Mississippi State, Kansas, Texas Tech, Washington and more.
Hunter, listed at 6-foot-2, is only a freshman but pulled in 40 catches for 578 yards and five TDs in his first season of college football.
David Blay, DL, Louisiana Tech
David Blay keeps moving up the ranks of college football and announced an OU offer to go along with offers from Penn State, Florida State, Arkansas, Mississippi State, Wisconsin, Michigan State, Tulane, UCF and more. ESPN's Max Olson reported that Blay is expected to visit OU, Illinois, Penn State and USC.
Blay started his career at West Chester before transferring to Louisiana Tech, where he started every game this season and was named All-Conference USA First Team. He had 46 tackles, 10.5 TFLs, 6.5 sacks and two quarterback hurries.
Wayshawn Parker, RB, Washington State
Surprisingly, the Sooners are after a running back in the portal. Wayshawn Parker announced via Instagram that he received an offer from OU.
Parker would follow his old offensive coordinator to Norman. He's only a freshman but was still the Cougars' best running back this season under Ben Arbuckle, rushing for 735 yards and four TDs. He also caught a touchdown.
If Parker were to join the Sooners, OU would have three sophomore running backs next season who have shown tremendous upside already.
Jerand Bradley, WR, Boston College
The Sooners are trying to replenish their receivers group after losing six to the transfer portal so far.
Collin Kennedy of 247Sports reported that Jerand Bradley is scheduled to visit Norman on Tuesday. Originally from DeSoto High School in Texas, Bradley started his career at Texas Tech for three years before spending this season at Boston College.
Bradley had six catches for 94 yards and two TDs in only four games this season. Listed at 6-foot-5, he would bring in some much-needed size for the Sooners.
James Thompson, DL, Wisconsin
A lot of programs have been after James Thompson since he entered the transfer portal, including the Sooners. Thompson announced an OU offer and also that would be visiting Norman. He's also announced he plans to visit Oklahoma State, SMU, Tennessee, Illinois and Texas A&M.
Thompson is a five-year veteran but played in only one game this season because of a preseason injury. In 2023, Thompson had 29 tackles and three sacks.
