Fall camp is about to start up at Oklahoma and throughout SEC country, and even for OU fans that have kept tabs on the Sooners throughout the offseason, you still might not know what's going on in the rest of the conference, especially for the SEC teams you need to know best that are on the Sooners' 2026 schedule.
Here's the biggest question for each SEC team on the Sooners' slate as fall camp begins to get the season going.

Georgia: Did the Bulldogs do enough to reload at wide receiver?
The Bulldogs return quarterback Gunner Stockton and, as usual, will still be elite in the trenches and defensively. However, even with Stockton still as QB1, Georgia could take a step back in the passing game while replacing six of its top seven pass-catchers from last year. Stockton has just fall camp left to figure out who his top targets will be in 2026.
Texas: Still suck?
Yes.
Kentucky: Can Will Stein back up his bold words?
Kentucky replaced long-time leader Mark Stoops with former Oregon offensive coordinator Will Stein, who already boldly claimed at SEC Media Days that the Wildcats will win big, "because of me." By the time the Sooners get Kentucky on Oct. 17, we'll know if Stein meant it or not. However, he might realize during fall camp that he doesn't have the level of talent he just left at Oregon.
Mississippi State: Is it even possible for the Bulldogs to win more than lose?
Just like every other SEC team with the Bulldogs on the schedule, this seems like a rare automatic win for the Sooners. Jeff Lebby, after leaving as Oklahoma's OC, is entering Year 3 at Mississippi State and clearly has things trending upward but still hasn't put together a winning season with a 1-15 conference record. Lebby could double that total in 2026, but maybe winning more than losing just isn't possible at Mississippi State until there are changes far beyond the head coach.
South Carolina: Will Shane Beamer survive until Norman?
The Sooners host South Carolina on Halloween and there's a chance even by then that Shane Beamer won't still be the Gamecocks' head coach. Beamer, who was OU's offensive coordinator before going to South Carolina in 2021, has the hottest seat in the SEC heading into fall camp and a rough start could have the Gamecocks moving on sooner than later.
Florida: Who wins the QB battle for Jon Sumrall's first big decision?
Florida has a new head coach in Jon Sumrall and his biggest decision to make during fall camp is which quarterback will lead his offense between Aaron Philo and Tramell Jones Jr. to get off to a good start in Gainesville? Philo just transferred from Georgia Tech to follow offensive coordinator Buster Faulkner but was a backup in the ACC. Jones was around the program last season but couldn't even win the job over DJ Lagway. Neither option should scare the Sooners but going into The Swamp will still be a challenge.
Ole Miss: Is Trinidad Chambliss enough to keep the Rebels rolling?
Quarterback Trinidad Chambliss could be the best player in college football, but is that enough with Lane Kiffin off to LSU and former defensive coordinator Pete Golding now in charge? There doesn't seem to be the same level of talent all around in Oxford and there's no denying Kiffin is an offensive mastermind. We'll quickly find out just how important Kiffin was to the Rebels' (and Chambliss') success in 2025, even after he left before their CFP run. Fall camp is the Rebels' last chance to get things sorted out for life after Kiffin.

Texas A&M: Was it an easy schedule or did Mike Elko make the Aggies legit?
In his second season at the helm, Mike Elko took Texas A&M to the CFP with an 11-1 regular-season record. However, by SEC standards, the Aggies had a walk in the park. That's not the case in 2026 with trips to LSU, Missouri, Alabama, South Carolina and Oklahoma. If Texas A&M is still a playoff contender by the time it gets to Norman, the Sooners will know for sure they have their hands full.
Missouri: Is Austin Simmons the Tigers' answer to get back to contender status?
Mizzou this offseason went and got a new quarterback in Austin Simmons, who actually started over Trinidad Chambliss at Ole Miss before an injury. Fall camp will revolve around getting him accumulated because he could be the Tigers' deciding factor. There's a lot of faith in head coach Eliah Drinkwitz, but if Simmons is prone to turnovers like he showed at Ole Miss, then Mizzou's days as a CFP contender will be over.
