Hot take (or just honest?)

Sooner Scoop's Eddie Radosevich, who covers the Oklahoma Sooners, made what might be the boldest preseason prediction yet among SEC experts. Or maybe he was actually just being realistic.

The Sooner Scoop duo of Radosevich and George Stoia were guests on "that SEC podcast" during SEC Media Days when Radosevich even stunned his co-worker with a take on Texas quarterback Arch Manning, who is supposed to be the next great college quarterback.

"There will be a point this year that the internet is abuzz and people out of Austin are wondering if they should bench Arch," Radosevich said. "And in saying that, no they shouldn't, but I bet there's going to be some message board talk."

Eddie Radosevich believes Texas fans will want Manning benched

You could call Radosevich a homer as an OU alum who covers the Sooners, but he's not the only person who covers college football that hasn't bought into the insane hype for Manning. Earlier this summer, ESPN analyst and former Georgia quarterback Aaron Murray was finally the first to speak up about the overinflated Manning hype.

"I want them all to have success, but I need to see it first," Murray said then on College Sports on SiriusXM with Dari Nowkhah. "I'm not going to crown you this All-American superstar when I haven't seen you do it. Right now, I would have (Mainning) middle of the pack in the SEC when it comes to quarterbacks."

Entering his redshirt-sophomore season, Manning has started just two games after sitting behind Quinn Ewers for two years. Yet, he's already presumed by many to be the next great college football quarterback and some even predict him to be the No. 1 overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft after just one season as a starter.

Even if Manning has a great season in 2025, there's still no way he can live up to the dream expectations that have been created for him as a first-year starter. That's why Radosevich's take might not be so hot after all. As soon as Manning struggles, which he will because every young QB does, some Texas fans will surely overreact and want the next big thing.
