Fortunately for all of us, the powers that be put Sterling Shepard and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in primetime again.
The Buccaneers started their NFL Playoff run against the Washington Commanders in the Wild Card Round on Sunday night.
As tradition at the start of Sunday Night Football on NBC, starters from both teams from both sides of the ball all introduced themselves, stating their name and where they played football before getting to the NFL.
Shepard, who is now a receiver with the Buccaneers after a college career at Oklahoma, does not do his intro alone, though. His introduction has become viral and is the most anticipated of them all because he does it with his two daughters.
Shepard says his name before his two daughters finish the introduction by collectively saying, "Oklahoma."
Shepard isn't the only Buccaneer repping the Sooners during the SNF intros. His quarterback is Baker Mayfield, who won a Heisman Trophy in 2017 while at OU and is in the midst of his best season statistically since getting to the NFL as the No. 1 overall NFL Draft pick in 2018.
During the regular season, Mayfield and Shepard connected 32 times for 334 yards and one touchdown. Overall, Mayfield threw for 4,500 yards and 41 TDs while completing 71.4% of his passes during the regular season.
The Buccaneers earned the No. 3 seed in the NFC after winning the NFC South for the fourth season in a row. Mayfield has led the Bucs to a divisional title as QB1 the last two years, continuing a streak that Tom Brady started.
If the Buccaneers win Sunday night, it would set up a Sooner vs. Sooner quarterback matchup between Mayfield and Jalen Hurts when the Bucs play the Philadelphia Eagles in the divisional round.
Shepard was in the NFL before Hurts was ever taking snaps in Norman, but Mayfield was also his quarterback during his senior year in 2015. He caught passes from a mix of Trevor Knight, Cody Thomas, Blake Bell and Landry Jones before that as a Sooner.
