The Oklahoma Sooners can boast something over the Alabama Crimson Tide that no other SEC member can.
"The Next Round" podcast recently point out in a post on X the record for each current SEC member against Bama on the football field since 2000, and the Sooners stood out among the rest as the only program on the list without a losing record at 5-2. Despite just joining the SEC two years ago, the Sooners are also tied with the fourth-most wins over the Crimson Tide during that time frame.

With no meeting on the schedule for 2026, the Crimson Tide just got the last laugh for a year after ending the Sooners' 2025 season with a 34-24 win in Norman in the first round of the College Football Playoff. That was Bama's second chance at the Sooners during the season, though, and first win in three tries within just over a year of each other.
Earlier in 2025, the Sooners went to Tuscaloosa and upset the then-No. 4 Crimson Tide 23-21 to abruptly halt their 17-game home winning streak, which was the longest in the country. That was part of OU's four-game winning streak to end the regular season that propelled the Sooners into CFP with first-round hosting rights.
The first meeting as SEC members in 2024 was an even bigger upset when the struggling Sooners just reached bowl eligibility after taking down then-No. 11 Alabama 24-3 in Norman. The loss ultimately kept the Crimson Tide out of the CFP in the first year under Kalen DeBoer.
That outcome proved that, for the most part, the Sooners have Alabama's number no matter the situation or who's in charge of either program. OU won three in a row over the Crimson Tide in 2002, 2003 and 2013 before Bama finally got its first win of the century over the Sooners in the CFP semifinals in 2018.
The Sooners will host Bama again in 2027 for a matchup that makes other SEC programs shutter while sparking confidence in Sooner Nation.
